My first official Alphabet City fave is always a goodie at 3 in the morning. Once a mafia hang out, now another NYU bar. But what else to do drunk and in search of cheap beer in the East Village? At least no one cares at Sophie’s. Whether you are smoking a cigarette, passing around a box of high fiber cereal or are changing clothes in front of the entire back room, the patrons seem calmly unfazed. Hurray!

Catie came to the City for a day of rambunctious activity. To celebrate the end of her life as a single woman we went first to the fancy Tapa’s lounge, then to the ultimately bizarre Coyote Ugly . Exhausted, we polished off our night-on-the-town at Sophie’s.
The day that started on the lawn of Central Park with a bottle of cheap white wine was quickly turning into an immoral adventure. First of all, why would anyone go to Coyote Ugly? I wondered myself at my own preposterous idea of entertainment, and Catie wondered as well as she pushed the door open. So it’s going to rain in New York for the next three days. Is that a bit depressing or what? I feel like this weather best reflects my current state of mind – cloudy with occasional thunderstorms. At least I will be inside at a computer, safely packed into my cube plugged into a coffee IV and dry! Tonight, according to weather.com everyone should “watch for lightning” and tomorrow “for wet turf.” How exactly does one prepare for that? I am already feeling anxiety about struggling with wet turf on my way to work tomorrow. Pity me, please!
